Module: Myocardial Perfusion Imaging

Module Description:
Audience: Nuclear Medicine Technologists
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of Nuclear Medicine
Skill Level: Intermediate
Myocardial Perfusion Testing is designed for nuclear medicine technologists who routinely perform nuclear cardiology procedures. The course examines all aspects of myocardial perfusion imaging including patient preparation, radiopharmaceuticals, acquisition parameters, processing, and potential artifacts.


Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to
1. list the indications and contraindications for myocardial perfusion imaging,
2. list the characteristics of the radiopharmaceuticals used for myocardial perfusion imaging,
3. list the parameters of various acquisition protocols,
4. understand the importance of correct processing technique and the basics of quantitative analysis,
5. identify potential artifacts in myocardial perfusion imaging, and 6. describe procedures that can be used to prevent artifacts.
