About the author:
Dr. Pretorius is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Pretorius did her residency at the University of California, San Diego, her fellowship and initial academic career at the University of Colorado Health Science Center and then returned to UCSD in 1986. She has been involved in research in the areas of obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound for many years. She wrote a textbook on Obstetrical Ultrasound with Drs. Nyberg and Mahony which has been used as a reference worldwide. She has assisted in developing clinical applications for three-dimensional ultrasound (3DUS) imaging (3D Ultrasound Imaging Group Home Page) with Dr. Thomas Nelson at the University of California, San Diego for the last 18 years. She has worked on the use of 3DUS primarily in obstetrics but also in other areas including gynecology, vascular, measurement accuracy and interventional radiology.
