This module describes osteoporosis, its influencing factors, diagnosis and treatment. The first lesson examines the prevalence of osteoporosis and its costs to healthcare. The second lesson reviews the structure and function of bones and how osteoporosis occurs. Lesson Three details the etiology, symptoms, risk factors and preventive methods associated with osteoporosis. The fourth lesson contains a brief view of the methods of diagnosing osteoporosis through bone densitometry and treatment.

* Describe the structure and function of bones, differentiating between cortical and trabecular bone.
